“You want me not to exist, But I will exist nonetheless. I will not leave the country
As long as the struggle endures, I will resist. I will not abandon it. I carry within me a plain Of words, of poems.
My being breathes the air of the land.
I am the living gazelle of the ghazal
You will not hunt me easily. I am alive.
My voice is fervor and revolt. I avoid neither stone nor rock, You will not be able to harness my torrent. Why veil my hair? Why disguise myself** to fight you?
I am a woman and will never, through cunning, Take the path of erasure.
Whether you protest or cry out, I have said what I had to say. “Only the voice remains,” But I will not always be here.
Despite age and illness, I want to ride,
Even if I can no longer mount a horse.”

“If I speak to you, it is to better hear you
If I hear you, I am sure to understand you
If you smile, it is to better overwhelm me
If you smile, I see the whole world
If I hold you, it is to carry myself forward
If we live, everything will be pleasure
If I leave you, we will remember
In leaving you, we will find each other again.”
Paul Éluard

"We are so insignificant
And my friend, the rose,
Has died this morning.
The moon, last night,
Watched over my friend.
In my dream, I saw
Her soul dancing,
Dazzling and naked,
Far beyond the clouds,
And she smiled at me.
Believe, whoever can believe,
I need hope,
Otherwise, I am nothing,
Or so little.
It's my friend, the rose,
Who said it yesterday morning."

Delphine had a head start.
She wasn't anxiously awaiting the end of the film.
She knew how to savor life little by little....

Delphine sets up Eve in a dark blue setting with a few purple and yellow flowers in a vase. Eve has styled her hair in a Japanese fashion, with a high bun adorned with a white floral hairpin. She adorns a magnificent dark blue kimono with white butterflies and holds a fan. We all focus on the grace of the scene. Some use pastels, others use gouache. A few lines are laid down, and we dive in. Two hours later, Eve becomes Japanese, her robe turns turquoise, and the butterflies have flown towards the tapestry...
The mystery of painting, a journey.

#odalisque.
The odalisque – the slave woman in a harem – for a woman who is resolutely independent? Precisely, she has CHOSEN the subject. She dressed as she pleased, imprinting her personal mark on the subject. She has transcended the role of the odalisque/slave, the object of fantasy for painters of the past. Much like Suzanne Valadon and her blue room in her time, Delphine is both a model and an artist, and very determined in her choices of live model sessions.
